New York Day Two: The Statue of Liberty

The next day brightened up to the glorious sunshine we were hoping for. So we took a half an hour tube from 77th street to the bottom of the island, just to give you an idea of how big the city really is! We found the tubes were a little more confusing to figure out than in London which didn't help as it was ridiculously hot down there.

We decided to go see the Statue of Liberty which was a lot further away from Manhattan then I thought. We hopped on a boat, I definitely recommend ordering tickets online as its the same price and you skip lots of queuing. You also need to book about four mouths in advance to get to the top of Miss Liberty, so we just got tickets for the island which was actually perfect as it gives you brilliant views of NYCs skyline!

The Statue of Liberty itself was actually a lot smaller than I imagined, but was a beautiful green. It actually started off copper, but weathering has turned it green!

When we got back to Manhattan we took some time to walk around Lower Manhattan. We found a few beautifully painted shop fronts, with small galleries inside. We walked up to get a quick look at Brooklyn Bridge, we had high hopes to walk along it later in the week, but wow is it a big bridge!
